About SmartCarry

Protect What Matters. Train With Purpose.

SmartCarry was founded with one clear goal: to raise the standard of CPL training through real-world experience, practical education, and respect for every student who walks through our door.

Led by Joseph DiCicco, a seasoned law enforcement detective with over a decade of field experience, SmartCarry offers certified Michigan CPL courses designed to empower responsible gun owners with the knowledge, skill, and confidence to carry legally and safely.

Joseph has spent his career making split-second decisions, navigating complex legal scenarios, and training with purpose. Now, he’s using that same experience to equip everyday people—from complete beginners to seasoned shooters—with the tools they need to protect what matters most.

What Makes Us Different

We don’t just teach to pass a test. We teach to prepare you for real life.

SmartCarry focuses on:

  • Safety First – From firearm handling to situational awareness, safety is built into every step of your training.

  • Clear Legal Instruction – Learn Michigan's CPL laws in a way that makes sense, so you can carry with confidence.

  • Hands-On Support – You’ll never be left guessing. We walk you through classroom learning, live-fire drills, and next steps.

  • Respect for All Backgrounds – Whether you’re new to firearms or looking to refresh your skills, our training meets you where you are.

Why We Do It

Because your safety—and the safety of your family—matters. We believe in the right to carry, but more importantly, we believe in the responsibility that comes with it.

SmartCarry exists to help people make informed, confident decisions through real training, not shortcuts. This isn’t a checkbox class—it’s a mindset, a community, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Every lesson, every drill, and every conversation comes back to one thing:
Protect What Matters.
